BORTH-Y-GEST

Borth-y-Gest village is a well kept secret! It is a small unspoilt but pretty harbour village which has incredible views across mountain and estuary.

  

Great for boating and stunning beaches. Away from the harbour there are several sheltered coves with sandy beaches where it is ideal for children to play in the pools which abound on the banks at low tide. The village has a shop, café / Tearoom, Bistro and slipway for small boats. Porthmadog is a 10 minute walk with a larger selection of shops restaurants and a small Tescos. The Ffestiniog railway can be seen in the distance with steam trains crossing the estuary.

PORTMEIRION

Within view of the house Is the Portmeirion Peninsula sheltering the unique Italian style village created to prove that buildings and nature can be combined together to create a beautiful place. Its a fascinating place and is where The Prisoner in the 60s was filmed. Apart from the architecture the village is surrounded by some lovely walks. Portmeirion‚ also boasts the Hotel Portmeirion on the shore and accommodation in the village itself or in the Castell Deudraeth which also has a fabulous restaurant.

PORTHMADOG

Situated on the Glaslyn Estuary, Porthmadoc is a pretty harbour town full of maritime history and is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. Locally there are many pubs and restaurants which offer a high standard of food. There are also castles to be visited at Criccieth, Harlech, Caernarvon and Beaumaris on Anglesey. Porthmadog was the centre of the Welsh slate industry. Slate paid for the causeway, called the Cob, which carries the road into Porthmadog across the Glaslyn Estuary and the Ffestiniog Railway, which is now one of the biggest holiday attractions in Wales, it chugs through beautiful coastal and mountain scenery through the Snowdonai national park to Blaneau Ffestiniog and soon a new stretch will run from Porthmadog to Caernarvon. ABERSOCH

A fantastic and beautiful seaside resort often called the ‘welsh Riviera’ overlooking Cardigan Bay to the SE side of the Llyen Peninsula. It’s a great place for boutique shops bars and cafes and is a real haven for Boating, in particular sailing.

HARLECH

Harlech and Harlech Castle can be seen on the opposite side of the estuary from Borth-y-Gest. It is where the Snowdonia Mountains meet the sea. Close by is Barmouth with a fantastic cycle track which meanders along the estuary – an absolute must for bike riders dog walkers and outdoors folk!

 CRICCIETH

A small seaside town with some nice shops and good restaurants, it is dominated by the Castle and just down the hill from it is an incredible ice cream parlour with amazing sea views. Close by is the famous David Lloyd George museum and incredible riverside walk.
